Optavia Meat Options Sam’s Club
We often get asked about how much meat to eat on a lean and green diet, especially when it comes to the difference in serving size between cooked and frozen meats.
So, I decided to ask Optavia Nutrition support for some advice.
They explained that meat, poultry, and seafood shrink naturally during cooking, and this can be influenced by factors like cooking method, duration, and temperature.
To make sure you have enough to eat, they suggested adding an extra 2 to 3 ounces to your desired cooked weight.
They also stressed the importance of weighing the cooked meat for accuracy, and any extra can be saved for future meals.
For those curious about specific serving sizes, Optavia Nutrition support provided some general approximations.
For instance, 8 ounces of raw boneless skinless chicken breast yields 6 ounces of cooked, and 10 ounces of raw lean fish yields 7 ounces cooked.
However, they did mention that fatty fish like salmon or mackerel only shrinks by 1 ounce due to their higher fat content.
