1. Optavia Mashed Potato Pie Hack
The Optavia mashed potato pie hack is a creative and delightful trick that involves using Optavia’s mashed potato meal as a base to create a more fulfilling and enjoyable dish, as illustrated below.
It involves adding Laughing Cow cheese to the mashed potato meal for a richer, creamier texture. The mashed potato and cheese mixture is used as the “pie crust”, providing a crispy exterior and soft interior once cooked.
The following are the ingredients you need to make Optavia mashed potato pie hack.
- 1 pack of mashed potato fueling
- 2 Tbsp egg white
- 2 Tbsp water
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- Cooking spray
- Light flavor wedge of Laughing Cow cheese ( or other desired topping)
This list shows you step-by-step instructions.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed potato fueling, egg white, water, and baking powder. Mix well until you achieve a nice consistency.
- Preheat your Dash pie maker and spray the top and bottom with cooking spray (after heating)
- Spoon half of the potato mixture into the pie maker and cook for 3-4 minutes.
- Flatten the cheese wedge (or any other desired topping) into a disk and place it on top of the potato layer.
- Spoon the other half of the potato mixture on top of the cheese layer.
- Close the pie maker and cook for another 3-4 minutes or until the pie is fully cooked and golden brown. And avoid opening the lid prematurely to check on the pie as it may affect the cooking process.
- Once fully cooked, carefully remove the pie from the pie maker and serve hot.
Of course, there are various ways to customize the toppings for the pie hack. While Laughing Cow cheese is one option, let’s explore another variation (cheese and bacon) to add some excitement to your pie-making experience:
- Try a combination of cheese and bacon (for cheese you can choose cheddar, parmesan, or leave Laughing Cow cheese)
- Add shredded leftover grilled chicken breast (around 1 Tbsp or so.) and add a little blue cheese (1/2 – 1 tsp). Going well with Buffalo sauce (photo 1)
- Put turkey pepperoni in a little bit of mozzarella (photo 2)
- Last variation with 1 Tbsp of tomato sauce, 1/2 oz reduced fat mozzarella, and 1 Tbsp part-skim ricotta (result is photo 3)
- 1 oz cooked ground turkey, a sliver of chopped green peppers, and 1 Tbsp of low-fat cheddar cheese (all deducted from L&G)
- Fill with cooked vegetables like mushroom, broccoli, or spinach.
Depending on which topping you use, don’t forget to subtract from Lean & Green, plus count condiments and healthy fat.

And now let’s move on to the Optavia mashed potato chips hack, for those who are lovers of crispy chips.
To start, simply add 1/2 cup of water to your Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes fueling and mix well. You can sprinkle some salt on top, but it’s not necessary. Alternatively, you can use potato chip seasoning or fries seasoning powder for added flavor.
After, spoon the mixture onto parchment paper to make about 10-16 chips, depending on your preferred size. Bake at 350°F for 15 minutes, then transfer to an air fryer for an additional 5 minutes or so.
If you don’t have an air fryer use a convection oven that works basically the same, or just bake them for 10 minutes in the oven, flip them over, and bake for another 10 minutes.
Here’s the photo of Optavia’s mashed potato chips hack.
You could even make them entirely in the air fryer if you’d like, but be mindful of the size of your fryer.
As for me, I love my chips thin and crispy, so I stick to using parchment paper and a combination of baking and air frying.

11. Optavia Mashed Potato Bagel Hack
The following hack is a widely known recipe that is quite popular for providing sustenance.
If you haven’t tried it yet, I highly recommend it. It is an excellent alternative to bread and can be stuffed with your preferred toppings.
In the attached photo, I’ve opted for a salmon and cheese wedge, a combination of avocado, tomatoes, and cheese, but you can consume it plain like a bagel.
This list shows the ingredients you need to make Optavia Mashed Potato Bagel Hack.
- 1 packet of Optavia mashed potato
- 2 egg whites
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- Trader Joe’s Everything Bagel seasoning
This hack counts as 1/4 Lean and 1 fueling, without toping. If you add some topping, add to these values.
Here are the cooking instructions.
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and prepare a baking sheet with cooking spray.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed potato, egg whites, and baking powder. Mix until smooth.
- Shape the mixture into a bagel shape on the prepared baking sheet (to make it easier you can use a bagel pan for bagels)
- Sprinkle the Everything Bagel seasoning over the top of the bagel.
- Bake the bagel in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
- For extra crispness, broil the bagel for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Remove the bagel from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving
If you don’t have a donut pan or don’t want to make a bagel you can still make this recipe work by spreading the dough out on parchment paper and creating a crust-like shape like in the photo.
To achieve a crispy texture, consider turning on the broiler for a minute or two at the end.
12. Optavia Mashed Potato Zucchini Pancake Hack
Here’s a recipe for some scrumptious pancakes with the addition of zucchini. Zucchini adds a pleasant texture to pancakes, making them more interesting and enjoyable to eat.
Also, you can experiment with different herbs, spices, and toppings to create a more unique flavor profile.
Here is what you need from this mashed potato zucchini hack. As a result, you can have a pancake like in the picture:
The following are the ingredients you need to prepare to make Optavia Mashed Potato Zucchini Pancake Hack.
- 1 packet of mashed potatoes (the kind that comes in a pouch)
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tablespoons of egg beaters (or substitute with a beaten egg)
- 1/2 cup grated zucchini (that’s 1/3 of your daily veggies – woohoo!)
- Non-stick cooking spray
This list shows you step-by-step cooking instructions.
- In a large bowl, mix together the mashed potatoes, water, and egg beaters until well combined.
- Grate your zucchini (or chop it up really finely) and add it to the potato mixture. Give everything a good stir to distribute the zucchini evenly throughout the batter.
- Heat up a non-stick pan over medium heat and give it a good spritz of cooking spray. Scoop the batter onto the pan to make 3 or 4 pancake-sized circles. Flatten them out a bit with the back of your spoon so they cook evenly.
- Cook for a few minutes on each side, until they’re golden brown and crispy on the outside.
13. Optavia Mashed Potato Pancake with Topping Hack
If you are not a fan of zucchini, you can try to make regular sandwiches and add various toppings that are on the list.
If you have ideas for toppings that are not here, please contact us as well!
Here are the ingredients you need to make mashed potato pancakes and the toppings separately.
Use the following ingredients.
- 1 packet of roasted garlic mashed potatoes
- 1 Tbsp of egg start
- 1/4 tsp of baking powder
- 1/2 cup of water
- Olive oil or nonstick spray
- Spices or salt (optional)
To achieve the correct consistency, begin by adding baking powder and egg white to the fueling mixture. Mix well before slowly adding water.
If the mixture is already at a nice consistency before using 1/2 cup of water, do not use all of the water as this may make the mixture too runny.
Next, heat a pan and coat it with olive oil or non-stick spray. Cook the two pancakes in the pan for a few minutes on both sides until golden brown.
Here is the list of toppings you can choose for Optavia Mashed Potato Pancake Hack.
- Make a salsa to go on top, or you can buy it ready-made like Chi-Chi’s (photo 1)
- Put a 1 laughing cow on top of pancakes
- Added some shredded cheese inside, and one of them has a little Babybel cheese on top
- Make a taco with fried egg white, 1 piece of chicken sausage, and laughing cow cheese (photo 2)
- Added some shredded cheese on top, until cooking the second side of the pancakes (to melt the cheese on top). You can see this in the third photo
- Try with sugar-free ketchup, Trader Joe’s Everything But the Bagel Dip, or sour cream
Depending on which topping you choose, the miscalculation will be different, whether it’s condiments or healthy fat, or part of lean or green.
14. Optavia Garlic Mashed Potato Puffs
How about making puffs with cheese or some spices? I think the combination of an air fryer and mashed potato filling is perfect so far.
The air fryer turns the potatoes into heavenly little bread balls that are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Here are two ways for cooking puffs:
- The first way to prepare them is to take 1 mashed potato filling, a pinch of paprika, chili powder, and cumin (totaling around 1/4 tsp), and 3 Tbsp of the mixture. Mix the ingredients and drop them in small spoonfuls onto a parchment paper-lined air fryer tray. The number depends on the size of the puffs; usually, 6 to 9 are good, or larger pieces will be softer inside and vice versa. Cook for 7 minutes at 375 degrees, then turn them over and cook for an additional 3 minutes.
- The second way to cook cheese puffs is to mix 1/4 cup of water and 1 packet of fueling well together. Make 4 puffs in your air fryer on parchment paper, season with garlic salt or everything but the bagel seasoning, and cook for 8 minutes at 350 degrees. With two minutes left, add a small sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
15. Optavia Mashed Potato French Fries Hack
If you’re looking for an ideal alternative to traditional French fries, this hack might be just what you need. It’s so good that, if cooked correctly, it’s hard to tell the difference.
You may have already heard of this recipe: follow the instructions and microwave the mixture for 1 minute to firm it up a bit. Then, spread it on parchment paper and cook at 350°F for 8 minutes. Flip it over and cook for another 3 minutes before cutting it up. Finally, put it in the air fryer for a little bit, and done, result in the first photo below.
However, if you’re feeling adventurous and want to try something new like in the second photo, here’s a different method to experiment with mashed potato French fries.
This list shows the list of ingredients you need for the Optavia mashed potato french fries hack.
- 1 packet of mashed potato fuel mix
- 1/3 cup of room temperature or warm tap water
- Non-stick spray
The following are the cooking instructions.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed potato fueling mix with 1/3 cup of room temperature or warm tap water. Mix well until there are no lumps.
- Follow the packet instructions to cook the mashed potatoes.
- Once cooked, transfer the mixture onto a piece of saran wrap and shape it into a rectangle.
- Place the wrapped mixture in the freezer for 30 minutes until it’s slightly firm.
- Remove the wrapped mixture from the freezer and cut it into strips.
- Place the strips back in the freezer until they are fully frozen.
- Take the frozen strips out of the freezer, separate them, and place them on an air fryer rack or basket (sprayed with non-stick spray)
- Preheat the air fryer to 400⁰ and cook the strips for 12 minutes.
- Serve and enjoy your crispy mashed potato strips with some ketchup or sauces.
16. Optavia Chili Mix with Mashed Potato Fueling Hack
This hack combines Optavia Chili mix with Mashed Potato fueling to create a delicious hack. By following a few easy steps, you can enjoy a hearty waffle and chili combo that’s perfect for any time of day.
To cook Optavia Red Bean and Vegetable Chili Mix, follow the directions and mix it with 3/4 cup of water. After microwaving the chili for 2 1/2 minutes, let it sit for 15–30 minutes to allow the beans to absorb moisture.
Sometimes the beans aren’t quite cooked if you don’t let them sit. Then, reheat the chili for a minute or so to warm it up.
Next, prepare the waffle using the Mashed Potato fueling. Mix the fueling with 1/3 cup of water and cook it in a sprayed Dash waffle maker with a Laughing Cow wedge in the middle. If you use a mini dash, make two waffles with half a wedge.
Once everything is ready, eat half of each now and the other half later! Plus half of the light Laughing Cow wedge as 1/2 condiment.
(If you make two waffles, eat just one as half-fueling).
17. Optavia Mashed Potato Waffle Hack
Optavia mashed potato waffle hack is probably the most popular. This potato waffle hack is easy to prepare and allows for the waffles to be frozen and reheated later, making it a convenient time-saving option.
Follow the steps above to make them, then store them in the freezer and reheat them in the toaster or air fryer when ready to eat.
This makes it an excellent time-saving option for those who are always on the go.
Here are the cooking instructions.
- 1 pack of mashed potatoes
- 1/8 tsp baking powder
- 1 Tbsp egg whites
- 4 Tbsp water
- 1 tsp Everything Bagel seasoning (optional)
- Cooking spray
The following are the cooking instructions.
- Preheat the waffle maker until the light turns on to indicate it’s ready.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, baking powder, egg whites, water, and Everything Bagel seasoning. Mix until everything is well-combined.
- Generously spray the top and bottom plates of the waffle maker with cooking spray.
- Divide the mashed potato mixture in half and spread it evenly onto each plate.
- Close the waffle maker and cook the first waffle for 5 minutes
- Remove the first waffle and spray the plates again with cooking spray.
- Add a tiny amount of water to the remaining mashed potato mixture to moisten it and make it easier to spread.
- Spread the remaining mixture onto the waffle maker and cook for 5 minutes
Also, with ready-to-eat waffles, you can just top them with about anything. Mustard makes them taste like a knish, and laughing cow cheese gives them a creamy taste.
To enjoy waffles as in the photo above, try putting turkey or a pouch of tuna (I used Reduced Sodium Starkist) and tomatoes or chopped salad together and making a sandwich using some of the parts from Lean and Green.
If you like chicken, add 3 oz of chicken (split chicken for lunch and dinner), 1 laughing cow cheese wedge, and G Houghs teriyaki sauce.
